Medication For Your Pets

4:11 PM, 2006-Nov-8 .. Link
In the initial testing of some pet medications, the drugs are usually tested on animals in experiments. Before you buy your pet medications, consult the vet on whether the medicine will suit your pet and situation. Many people take care of their pets to the best of their ability, but some will not even buy medication for their pets. At the cost of sounding presumptuous, it is very costly for most people to afford some pet medications, let alone take care of an exotic animal like a lion or tiger. Many people have success with the practice of wrapping certain medication pills in cheese for their pets ingestion. A guide to pet medication should provide an understanding of what your veterinarian has prescribed for your pet. Even in Hollywood and other ritzy neighborhoods, ordering pet medication is commonplace to help avoid dealing with the outside audience and onlookers.

Deworming Your Cat

3:13 PM, 2006-Oct-22 .. Link

Practically all kittens are born infected with some type of worm. These worms can and usually are transmitted through the mother's milk or while the kittens are still inside the mother's womb. Unless the mother lives in pristine conditions (think sterile clean rooms), expect that your newborn kitten will have worms. The same goes for an older cat as well.

Cats can be major stinkers. We're not talking about smell, but rather their"catty" behavior towards their humans. Cats believe they are superior to all other living things. Don't you feel that sometimes they are just humoring us humans? Sometimes, their behavior can go to extremes and make us all crazy.

Obedience Training for Dogs

8:24 PM, 2006-Oct-15 .. Link

My husband and I have two dogs. They are Labrador Retrieves that are used for bird and water fowl hunting, in addition to being pets. I enjoy being around the dogs because my husband has done such a good job with obedience training. It is so nice to have a dog respond to what ever command you are giving them. Because of the obedience training I feel very comfortable taking both dogs for a walk; because I know that they will listen to me. I do not have to be concerned that they will go into someone’s yard or that they will runaway from me.

All About Cattle Farming

9:45 PM, 2006-Oct-12 .. Link

Cattle farming is a huge business. Cattle farming is also a demanding business, making for a hard-working lifestyle.  When you raise beef cattle, you get up with the rooster and sleep with the moon.  You feed, clean, groom, provide health care, ensure grazing ranges, keep to the protocols and stay within the laws of the county (zoning, etc.), state, and nation.  When you are involved in cattle farming, you must stay on top of the market, keep informed of disease, bacteria, pathogens, and other threats to your stock, and watch for and have insurance against accident, illness, and natural disaster.

Animal Sounds

7:39 PM, 2006-Oct-11 .. Link

There is nothing more chilling than the sound of animals fighting. One night I heard it at some time long past midnight. It was the animal sounds of two cats trying to tear each other to pieces, and when I first heard it, if only for a moment, I was quite convinced that I was going to die.

Collaring your Cat - How to Safely Keep Them On

11:07 PM, 2006-Oct-7 .. Link
Many owners never put an identification collar on their cat. "Cats don't like them," they say. "We don't want to push the issue and get a bite or a scratch for our efforts." Well, the dilemma with that is what happens if they get lost? You are probably thinking that your cat is an indoor pet and therefore doesn't need an ID collar. The problem with that viewpoint is that no matter how careful you are cats are sneaky. If a door is slightly ajar or a window is cracked open just a little, that cat will squeeze through to freedom. They are curious and love to explore. But if a dog or other natural predator gets them, you know that saying "Curiosity killed the cat?" Chances are that will be the likely scenario and you would never know what happened to your family feline. ID collars make sense for your cat.

Trimming your cat's claws can be a daunting task. It is something you would be hard-pressed to be able to do on your own. So before you even try to start, recruit a helper to hold down your cat while you trim its nails. Do you have the necessary tools to care for your kitty's claws? First, you need a sharp pair of nail clippers. You can purchase a set that is specially made to hold a cat's claw in place while you cut. You can purchase these special clippers from your veterinarian or a pet store. Otherwise, a normal pair of human clippers or nail scissors should do just fine.

If you decide to train your cat to walk on a leash, there are several easy steps to take in order to make the walks with your cat much easier.

Protecting your Cat from Extreme Temperatures

9:58 PM, 2006-Sep-26 .. Link

Cats show many different signs of trouble when they become overheated. For example, a cat may begin panting rapidly. Eventually, it may even become unresponsive. In addition, the cat's gums may turn bright red when it becomes too hot. If the cat begins to vomit excessively or have diarrhea, it may be overheated. To test if your cat is suffering from extreme temperatures, the pet owner can gently pinch the scruff of the neck. If the scruff stays in an upright position after being pinched, it is getting dehydrated.

A Hairy Situation - Why the Cat Hacks Up Hairballs

2:18 PM, 2006-Sep-25 .. Link

You may ask why cats ingest so much hair in the first place. Just think about their grooming practices. They lick and lick with that serrated like tongue that easily captures any loose, dead fur. It is because of that rough tongue cat possess that they cannot spit out any offending fur. So, the only thing a cat can do is swallow the offending fur. For the most part, the hair just passes right on through their bodies, being digested then excreted through normal elimination. However, if too much hair accumulates and builds up into a matted wad inside their tummy, it is almost impossible to pass through the digestive system, hence the hacking and retching to try and vomit the offending hairball out.

Can Cats and Dogs Co-Exist Peacefully?

2:14 PM, 2006-Aug-21 .. Link

Many people believe that it is impossible for cats and dogs to live together peacefully. Perhaps this belief is brought on by images seen in cartoons or by one or two negative experiences between cats and dogs. But, in reality, it is quite possible for the two species to live together peacefully - and even to live together as friends.
